Network Problems |
The URLBlaze network basic characteristics are similar to those of the Gnutella Network, so they share the same problems. If you are unable to use the following help to receive results on the URLBlaze Network, try the Gnutella Network forum. "Virtual Private Network" (VPN) Certain IP addresses are only used behind firewalls or within institutional (corporate, educational, government, etc.) private networks. They are called VPN (Virtual Private Network) and APIPA (Automatic Private IP Addressing) addresses. The VPN addresses were originally defined in the Internet document RFC 1597 (later supplanted by RFC 1918); APIPA is most often seen being used by Windows 98 and Windows 2000 systems. Here are the VPN and APIPA ranges: 10.0.0.0 to 10.255.255.255 (type A) 172.16.0.0 to 172.31.255.255 (type B) 192.168.0.0 to 192.168.255.255 (type C) 169.254.0.0 to 169.254.255.255 (type P) Firewall and Private Networks If you are behind a firewall, you might have problems connecting to the network and receiving data. To try and solve this problem, go to the 'Configuration' dialog and change the 'listen' port to 80 (Make sure that port 80 is not protected by the firewall) or ask your system administrator to open the port that URLBlaze is listening on. If you are behind NAT (Private Network), ask your system administrator to configure the gateway for port forwarding, i.e. connections are being forwarded from your gateway port to your local computer port. When setting up the port forwarding, use the same port for both the URLBlaze server and the gateway. Beware, if you are using port forwarding and you are running more then one copy of URLBlaze on your local network, Be sure that each copy listens on different port. |
